Is the use of ‘n’ intentional to limit his sorriness at one by only having natural numbers in the denominator? I had trouble getting that out of my head.
It’s meant to be ambiguous and a little abstruse (like any apology I’ve ever received from a mathematician, and like any apology I’ve ever had occasion to give).
