@Mgccl :I know what it usually is. But the point is that she’s congruent to 21, which is much more fun than 1 (no booze at 1)! Plus, with the mod 10, I’m not giving away her real age. Anyhow, with equivalence classes, any representative works. ;)

@C: any coset member can act as the representative. That’s why there’s the three bar “equivalent” notation instead of the two bar “equal” notation.
I.e., the fail is on you, my friend, for not understanding modular arithmetic. Go read your notes again before you make me pissy on a Monday morning. :)

You could have also used mod 2, mod3, or mod 4 (depending on her actual age) in order to create even more possibilities for her real age. ;-)

If 21 is a hint at the real age, then i guess her moms age is 51. Since both are divisible by 3.
