Pac Man wasn’t a torus, it was a bounded cylinder segment. You could tunnel from side to side, but not top to bottom. Asteroids was a torus, broken only by the saucers which would appear and disappear from the sides.

hahahahahaha! I actually once explained the torus in class using pacman! Then someone told me you couldn’t go from top to bottom. I thought you could.
