Well, hello! On Sunday, Brown Sharpie had a record 6000+ visitors. You can’t imagine my surprise. Of course, only half of them came back on Monday. Bets for today’s numbers? Closest guess to the number recorded by Google Analytics will win the guesser a Brown Sharpie postcard mailed from me to the lucky winner. Leave your guess in a comment to this post (this one, for you RSS readers) by 5:00pm Central Standard Time tomorrow, October 1st, to be eligible. I’ll notify the winner by email…when I get to it. Probably by Thursday. Well, possibly. Probability > 0, for sure.

I have finally finished getting all the comics from the past two years renamed and resorted, so if you’ve been itching to read some of the missing ones, they should be back! If you happen to stumble across a comic that doesn’t show up properly, please let me know. It’s a big job for a small grad student. But hey, it beats real work, right?

New! Improved! Extra goodness!

Hello, 300ish readers! Today marks the first day of a new era: the era of Brown Sharpie powered by WordPress and ComicPress!

What does this mean for you, the dedicated reader?

Well, if you’re reading Brown Sharpie via a feed reader, it means very little–the only change is that you will also receive my news updates. If you strenuously object to this development, I will create a custom comics only feed. Just for you. Can you get service like that from a syndicated comic? Heck, no!

If you are one of the 200 or so who actually visit this site on a tri-weekly basis, you’ll notice that the look and feel of the site has changed. I do not like change. You probably don’t, either. But I promise, this is a good change. Instead of me haphazardly trying to code my own comic-friendly plugins, ComicPress has lots of comic-friendly code already built in! And it’s actively developed by people who actually know what they’re doing! Hooray!

The Brown Sharpie-fied theme is not finished yet, but if I didn’t take the changes live…well, you know us math folks. We’re out there. We need to be constantly reminded of our responsibilities, or we’ll just daydream the time away. Anyway, if you’re missing your favorite part of the site, or if you really hate the changes, or if you just want to say “Howdy,” leave a comment.

In the spirit of shameless self-promotion, don’t forget that you can sport your very own Brown Sharpie gear (powered by CafePress–notice a theme?). With approximately 300 readers, Brown Sharpie is still nerd-niche cool. Don’t squander your chances to prove you were there at the beginning. I’m going to hit it big any day now. Any day now…

As you may have noticed, Brown Sharpie is observing Memorial Day today. Mostly because I have a poor grasp of time. Partly because a large tree fell on my house last night (insert a splitting field joke here).

Holiday Break
